Eco School

At Sevenoaks Prep, we are dedicated to fostering environmentally conscious young people who recognise their role in protecting the planet. Through hands-on projects, innovative initiatives and the commitment of our Eco-Committee, we continue to drive positive change within our school and beyond.

We were thrilled when Sevenoaks Prep was awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction in August 2024 for the third year running, in recognition of our environmental work over the academic year.

The Eco-Schools Green Flag is an international accreditation that recognises efforts to raise environmental awareness amongst young people, whilst taking action to make their school more sustainable. The Eco-Schools programme was established in 1994 and is now delivered in more than 70 countries across the globe. The programme prompts young people to explore a variety of environmental issues, including climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. Pupils are then empowered to plan and deliver environmental actions in their school, local community and beyond.

Last year, we selected three Eco- Schools topics: marine, litter and biodiversity – and worked on a variety of projects across Pre-Prep and Prep.  This year our Eco-Committee has chosen to focus on reducing litter and waste, enhancing our school grounds and buildings to help wellbeing and biodiversity and introducing a valuable new initiative on global citizenship.

By embracing sustainable practices, we strive to empower our pupils to become responsible global citizens, equipped to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the world around them.
