Years 7&8 Lecture Series

25th May 24

As part of our Years 7&8 lecture series, pupils from Years 7&8 had the privilege of hearing from Stéphanie Dubois, a former ex-professional tennis player and parent here at The Prep.

Stéphanie shared her journey in tennis, from her early years to her professional career. She discussed the process of becoming a professional tennis player, shared personal experiences from her time on tour and offered advice on how to achieve your goals.

Representing Canada from the age of 14, Stéphanie turned professional at 17. She spent the next decade on the WTA tour, travelling up to 30 weeks a year at the peak of her career. Her dedication saw her represent Canada 11 times for the Billie Jean King Cup, compete many times in the main draw of the four Grand Slam tournaments, including Wimbledon, and take part in the London Olympics in 2012.

Our pupils were fascinated to hear about her career and were full of questions. Stéphanie’s message to them was to believe in their abilities, pursue their passions, be patient and determined and never stop believing in themselves.

Stéphanie retired from tennis in September 2014 and currently commentates for the WTA which you can hear on Sky Sports. We are very grateful for the time she spent with our pupils.
