Eco-Schools Green Flag Award

We are delighted to have retained our Eco-Schools status and have been award the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction for the second year running, in recognition of our environmental work over the last academic year.

This year we selected three Eco-Schools topics: marine, school grounds and biodiversity and worked on a variety of projects across the school. This included fundraising for the Marine Conservation Trust, lunchtime lectures on plastic pollution by Year 7 pupils, litter picks, growing vegetables and plants in our allotments, anti-idling poster campaigns, learning in our outdoor learning spaces, maintaining bird feeding stations, watching blue tits successfully raise 9 chicks in our camera bird box and much much more.

The assessors at Eco-Schools described our application as “innovative, impactful, and inspirational“. They particularly liked how learning about environmental issues as part of our curriculum was reinforced by the opportunity to work practically on these issues at school, home and on field trips.

Our Eco Committee have been busy this term, working on lots of new initiatives across the school.
