Dear Parents

I hope you are all well.

It has been a busy week of hockey, with our Under 11 and Under 13 teams competing in tournaments. Our Under 13s competed at the IAPS event on Wednesday, and in less than favourable weather conditions played exceptionally well and progress on to the national finals at Haileybury College next Friday. When you receive this newsletter on Friday, our Under 11 team will be at Millfield School taking part in the national finals – what a fantastic experience it will be. Congratulations to both teams for working so hard and for achieving so highly. It is testament to their positive attitude and determination, as well as the huge input from their coaches; well done to all!

Earlier in the week our former groundsman, David Cochrane, lit his 38th Sevenoaks Prep bonfire – a huge thank you to David for his hard work and ongoing enthusiasm!

On Thursday, Mr Collings and I took Year 8 pupils to the Godden Green War Memorial to lay a wreath in remembrance of those who have fought and died in conflicts. We talked about those whose names are engraved on the memorial and their roles in the Godden Green community.

Next week sees the Christmas Bazaar build-up in full swing – the elves have certainly been up to mischief this week on our social media posts and in school!

Best wishes

Luke Harrison

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful half term break, it seems a very long time ago now because we have been so busy at school since we returned.

The children have been completing work on Remembrance Day over the past week, with lots of creative activities taking place in the Nursery and Kindergarten classrooms; allowing children to look at a poppy and make patterns with them and explaining in a very simple way why people wear poppies at this time of year.  Progressing on into some of the older year groups, the children have listened to some age-appropriate stories and our Year 2 children joined in with a whole school Remembrance Assembly this morning.

Year 2 had an exciting morning on Thursday!  Kent Fire and Rescue visited with their fire engine, to accompany their work on their topic of “The Great Fire of London”.  All of the children were fully immersed and really enjoyed listening to the firemen about the incredible work that they do.

Believe it or not, the much anticipated nativity play rehearsals are in full swing!  I can already hear lines being rehearsed and songs being sung in every corridor as I walk through each day.  I know that our dedicated children and staff will be working tirelessly to prepare for these heart warming shows.  The performances will take place on Friday 1st December in the Sports Hall on the Prep side.  Please see the calendar on the Portal for details of timings.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

Helen Cook
