Wow, what a night!
Over 20 acts took part in Prep Idol this year and succeeded in raising the roof of The Godden Green Arena! There was something for everyone with a diverse serving of songs from different eras and genres. The acts kept on coming and it was amazing to watch the bravery of the children as they took to the stage, seeing their enthusiasm and enjoyment as they performed for an audience of over 450 people. There were solo singers and group acts who demonstrated their ability by delivering really polished performances. The performers are always so supportive of their fellow competitors while they wait backstage for their big moment – they all shone on stage, bringing music to life whilst also letting their personalities radiate through.
The winning act ‘Motley Two’ gave a stunning rendition of ‘Hallelujah’, with keyboard and violin, to a standing ovation. It was fantastic having some of our alumni back to perform, including last year’s winners ‘Structure’, and also some very memorable performances by members of staff.
The external judging panel said how engrossed they were in all of the performances and expressed their admiration to those on stage. Thank you to all involved in making Prep Idol happen and helping give the children their moment of fame!
