It was fantastic to see so many parents at our Jubilee celebrations and to all join together as a community at our picnic and tea party in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Union Jacks had been appearing through the week and everyone had been busy making decorations, preparing food and finding something red/white/blue to wear. The picnic tables were set up near the cricket pavilion and the children greatly enjoyed all sitting down together for a whole school tea party in the glorious sunshine while the parents enjoyed a picnic.
Our Great Jubilee Bake Off had generated a wonderful array of majestic cakes that were on display in our Bake Off tent for all to admire. From corgis to crowns and thrones to flags, it was a tough decision for the judges to find the star bakers in the different categories and equally so for the best bunting competition.
We enjoyed some wonderful singing by the school choir and we all joined together for the national anthem and a community photograph to mark the occasion before ending the afternoon with the Y8’s battling it out in an inter-house tug of war, enthusiastically cheered on by the spectators.
It was an afternoon of magical moments and a memorable celebration to commemorate the Queen’s historic milestone.
