“Sending our daughter to the Prep is one of the best things I have done for her. ” Current parent
We are delighted that you are considering Sevenoaks Preparatory School for your child. These pages explain the admissions process in more detail. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Admissions, Mrs. Clare Harrison, who will be very happy to speak to you.
We have three main points of entry into Sevenoaks Prep: Nursery, Year 3 and Year 7. Occasionally, places do become available in other year groups. Please contact our Director of Admissions to discuss your child’s requirements.
Applications are welcome from all children. If your child has an additional educational need, Mrs Harrison will be very happy discuss this with you.
Nursery and Kindergarten
We welcome children from 2½ years. We have two intakes, September and January, according to the month in which your child is born.
To begin with, children usually attend morning sessions only from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, including lunch. The number of mornings that children attend is up to the individual, though we usually encourage at least two sessions. Once your child is ready, afternoon sessions can be added so the school day runs from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.
Following their Nursery year, the children then feed into Kindergarten where morning and afternoon sessions are available. We encourage at least 5 sessions at this stage. Attendance in both classes can be reviewed throughout the year and increased termly.
To secure a place, early registration is highly recommended. We accept registrations from birth and many parents register their child during their first year.
We are full in our current Nursery and Kindergarten.
We are full in our Nursery for children starting in September 2016 and January 2017. Parents can still register to join our waiting list.
Parents can still register to join the waiting list for Nursery places starting in September 2017.
We are now registering children who will start Nursery from September 2018, although early enquiry is recommended.
Full time education begins in Reception and children entering the school from this point are assessed for entry. Children in our Kindergarten are usually guaranteed a place in Reception and, as a result, places only become available at this stage to new entrants if a current family relocates.
We open up 4 new spaces for entry into Year 3 every year. Candidates are invited to attend for a taster day and assessment.
Children wishing to join us in Year 7 will be invited to spend a day with our current Year 6. Places are offered subject to a successful taster day and assessment.
In all cases, offers are made once the school is confident that standards of behaviour will meet our expectations and that the prospective pupil will be able to cope with the academic curriculum and life at the school.
